Scan Columns

Instead of using the normal header theme like most websites, the SAFB uses a scan column. Displayed in figure 6, this column is used to organize peripheral page elements and navigation links throughout the site (Horton and Lynch 156).  It is displayed on the left of every page. Horton and Lynch believe scan columns are best for contact information, search boxes, and minor page elements (156).  Included in the SAFB scan column are topics such as Information, Get Involved, Programs, and Events and Campaigns (SAFB), which are more major categories.  From this, users are able to quickly and concisely navigate throughout the site.
